Progress Update March 11, 2024

The City contractor, California Waters, continues to make progress on the demolition at the Aquatics Center. The contractor has demolished and removed the Recreation and the Competition pools’ plaster, tile, and gutter grates, and the concrete pool deck. The Competition Pool’s stainless-steel bulkhead has been removed and recycled.

During the week of March 11, the existing bird wire, which serves to deter seagulls, will be removed to accommodate construction activity. Repairs will be made to the pools’ concrete shells, and soil remediation will begin. Soil remediation is a necessary step to ensure proper placement of the new concrete deck.
